The White Family Foundation Trustees value responsible giving. Philanthropy requires responsible action on the part of the giver and receiver. It is our opinion that each funded grant creates a partnership between the Foundation and the receiving organization. It is our intent to encourage and foster positive partnerships within our community through the grant making process.
Our Giving Philosophy
By developing partnerships with qualified education, healthcare, and religious organizations in the Tampa Bay area, each grant, no matter the amount, can have a significant impact. Philosophically, the White Family Foundation supports organizations that excel at helping those in need while promoting self-reliance and personal responsibility.
The program’s priority giving areas and funding decisions of The White Family Foundation are the responsibility of its Board of Trustees. The Foundation’s grantmaking policies and priorities may be modified at the Board’s discretion.
While not always possible, our Trustees prefer to conduct onsite visits for all new organizations. These may occur prior to gifting, during the gifting period, and following the project’s completion. These visits are considered an important part of our due diligence procedures.
Our Board places the highest value on promoting long term grantor and grantee relationships.
We look at every approved grant as a Philanthropic Partnership whose primary goal is to benefit our local, Tampa Bay community. We look forward to seeing first hand your organization and how you fulfill your mission and vision!
Our Giving Guidelines
- We can only support organizations that are exempt from Federal taxation under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and publicly supported under Section 509(a).
- We cannot provide grants to individuals.
- Grants are generally not approved for deficit or debt reduction.
- Preference is given to organizations with an annual, operating budget of less than $3,000,000.00.
- We will consider proposals requesting no more than $20,000.00 per organization, per year (this may be divided between multiple projects/programs).
- Proposals are reviewed from June 1st through to November 1st of each year. Every effort is made to review proposals for the next scheduled Board meeting, but Board consideration may be deferred to gather more information.
